How to have fun!

In the past year or so, I've been taking ideas that I thought would be fun or cool, and doing them! I'm eliminating those excuses and "whatever reasons" and going after them. A couple of months back, I had this idea for a song. If you ever talked about a cheesy 70's adult movie you heard the song that goes "bom chickka wah wah". I looked hard for the original song, and aside for what the recent Axe commercials have brought forth I couldn't actually find it, so I thought I'd see if I could make this song myself! (btw, if you happen to know the original artist for the song, please let me know). I had no idea how I'd make a song, I never made one before, but I'd thought it'd be cool. So I thought about exactly what I wanted, how I wanted it to sound, the tempo, etc, and a thought came to me to call a friend that's in theatre. This was the turning point. In the past, at this point that I might say something like "Nah, what do I know about making songs??" and drop the whole thing, go back to my "normal" life as a techie. That's commonly known as the "terror barrier". Instead, I pushed through the terror barrier, made the call, and the next thing you know last night I’m in a recording studio, with an amazing band at my command, and I'm producing the song! It went absolutely perfect, and it was a TOTAL blast. I decided I was going to go all out for the recording session, so I went and I bought 70's outfits, frilly vests, Afros, star sun glasses, the whole nine yards! (see the picture above with me and the band). I even set up a whole bar spread (with the good stuff) to really kick it up a notch. Every one there loved it, we had a blast while making fun music, it was magical! At the end of it all, I now have something to walk away with. I've got the bow chikka wow wow song, and when you hear it, you’re going to love it! We're going into post-production now and it will be coming out soon. You will see it on iTunes and various places, and you can get the current rough cut on our myspace site or on the official home page right now! Btw, if you are a web designer or know one that would like to get on this project, please send me an e-mail!

So if you want to have fun in life, simply go after your passion, and whatever FEELS fun to you. It's the feeling that counts. When I did that for this song, I stepped out of my mainstream life and I stepped into my own world. It was my world, done my way, with people I WANTED to be around. How could that not be fun? If you aren't having fun in life, the reason for that is because you're not doing what you want to do. If you do what you're passionate about, it'll automatically be fun!!

Scoop up some of the STREAM of GREEN!

As I blogged about over at the Speaking Stars Blog, business owners are projected to recieve $20B of revenue generated through internet advertising alone! It doesn't take much to scoop up your fair share of that stream of green coming your way! I've discovered some easy, FREE ways to increase your online presence, generate more leads and gain more revenue with only a basic online strategy in place.

Here's a great tip that you can use right away about search ranking. The one of the main ways Google determines relevance ranking is by how many "inbound links" you have pointing to your site. In other words, how many sites on the internet have links that point to yours? There are many ways to get folks to link to your site, but the best way is by having quality content on your site. If you have content that people like, they'll link to it so other people can read it. Google's pretty smart, huh?

I'm putting together a FREE SPECIAL REPORT titled "Instant Internet Marketing for Small Business". It will be a 5 part series that will detail specific easy, FREE techniques in each of the 5 pillars of internet marketing to create a basic online strategy that will increase your online presence and generate more leads for you with out tons of work. If you are interested, send a request to ajay@ajayspeaks.com and you will then be added to the list.

Get your fair share of that $20B stream of green coming your way, sign up for my FREE special report!!

Focus on the Solution, not the problem!

When I'm not speaking to college students about transitioning to the real world, or helping small business with Internet Marketing, or working full time at Microsoft, I'm also running a real estate business (see my program on "The Art of Delegating") :) Today, I got a chance to apply the lesson I learned from T. Harv Eckers book, "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind" about focusing on the solution, and not the problem. When we hit a problem, it's easy for us to dwell on it and then act out on it, but where does that get you? I've learned it's much better to save time and energy (and more) by focusing on the solution to the problem, not the problem itself! I know it's very difficult to focus on the solution when emotions are high, but it will completely change the outcome of the situation for the better! In my case today, I had a disgruntled tenant who just couldn't be satisfied no matter what we tried. Not only that but my property manager broke "the magical barrier" by forwarding one of my e-mails with my name and contact info directly to her! So now this tenant knows who I am, how to get hold of me, and you better believe she's coming after me. My first instinct was to call the property manager and lay into him real good. But knowing what I know, I stopped, stepped back, and said "How do I solve this particular problem?" With that change of thinking, instantly whole situation changed. I immediately had a thought, that instead of calling the property manager, I'd call my real estate mentor. I figured he's been through this situation dozens of times. Sure enough, in a few minutes he helped me craft a solution that made this a win win for every body!

So before you take the negative route (which is usually the first one you'll see when faced with a problem), step back and watch yourself, look at yourself being angry. Be the witness to it all. Then ask: What is the solution to this problem? What would fix this? Put those thoughts in your head as quickly as you can, and stressful situations will quickly turn into a resolved situations!
